About us:

Caregcennen is a small show kennel situated near Swansea in South Wales.

I have two main breeds: the English Setter and Miniature Parti Poodles. My dogs are my passion and my life, and I am lucky enough to have plenty of dog-secure land to indulge myself utterly!

 

Free running is available to my dogs for most of the day, every day, and as we all live on a 12 acre smallholding, there is plenty of grassland and trees for exploration. Their emotional well-being is as important to me as their physical health. They are pets first and show dogs second.

Within sight of the kitchen window is a stable block that has been converted to huge, airy bedrooms for the Setters and a recently added grooming and shower room. In addition, there is an enormous rainwater fed, koi carp pond that was constructed purely for the dogs to play in. They cool off in it, chase pond skaters, hunt (unsuccessfully) for fish and slide gleefully across the ice in winter.

I believe that each dog needs the opportunity to express itself in its own unique way. This produces vital, well-adjusted adult dogs that are fit for purpose and are a pleasure to live with.

 

I do have a block of four kennels with runs – however these are largely redundant. They are only used if we are all out for the day (rare), or if one of the girls is in season and needs to be kept safe from the boys! Also, forgive me if, after several hours of show preparation, I feel the need to keep them in for one evening and night to preserve their pristine condition!

Apart from that, I allow as much running, hunting, swimming, getting filthy, playing, chasing, sunbathing (picnic benches are available by the pond for this) or just crashing in front of the kitchen fire as they wish.

My home is run around the dogs. I have no problem with muddy footprints on the floor (it washes off), Poodles on the bed or Setters on the sofas.

 

All my dogs are health tested to Kennel Club standards and Caregcennen is a member of the Kennel Club Accredited Breeders Scheme and has received two accolades.

Please note that, although some of the photos here are professionally staged (I want to show them off to their best advantage!), I have no problem in showing you scenes of my dog’s daily life and surroundings.
